Evernote is a free web based program with a companion app for desktop and iPhone/iPod Touch. My primary personal use is from the desktop app. The app loads in 3 seconds on my machine, and gives me instant access to my notes or to quickly paste something in. Here are some samples of the things I store in Evernote:
- snippets of code
- color palettes (see the image above, which was pasted from a web app)
- case ID#s of technical help call-ins
- ftp info
- screenshots
- pics or text from web pages
- wine or meal to remember
- restaurant or movie suggestions
and the list goes on…. In short, it is a repository of small bits of info that you don’t want to forget.
Okay, that sounds helpful and is a useful app, but the beauty of it, is that I can access that info from anywhere by logging in to evernote.com or looking something up on my iPod Touch.
I have to say that Evernote is one of the best free apps I have ever used.
