Most people know what a favicon is, but many people aren’t sure what it is called, and even if they do know it is a favicon, they might not know how to pronounce it. Favicons are the cute little icons that show in your browser window on the extreme left of the address bar, or with your bookmarks. Although it is not a hard task, many people forget to use one with their site, and they are missing a great little branding technique. I know my eye always gravitates to the favicons in a list of bookmarks, and other sites get passed over. So don’t forget the tiny favicon! I use a free tool from Dynamic Drive, and it is better than lots of other tools I have tried. So, if you are missing favicons, get over to the Dynamic Drive right now and brand your blog or site.
I never realized it was easy to add the favicon. After you create it, how do you get it live?
Sally, Just upload the favicon.ico to the root directory.
I made the favicon and loaded it, but it doesn’t show up. What did I do wrong?
You have to clear your cache in order to see it.
Hi,
As you mentioned, it is really important to use favicon. I use it for every single website.

Your site and posts are very interesting ! Thanks for providing such a great resource. With so many junk sites out there it’s refreshing to find one with valuable, useful information ! I’ll be back to read regularly !
Thanks,
